3rd Annual Family History Conference announced

cvillefhcThe 3rd Annual Charlottesville Family History Conference will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. 

The location will be at the Charlottesville Airport Road LDS Chapel located at the corner of Airport Road and Timberwood Boulevard approximately 1/2 mile west of Route 29  near the Charlottesville Airport (map).

The conference is sponsored by the Charlottesville LDS Family History Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Central Virginia Genealogical Association (CVGA).  The Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society (ACHS) has also participated in the conference since 2007.

This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Scot French, Ph.D. Dr. French is an associate professor at the University of Virginia and the Director of the Virginia Center for Digital History.

Registration begins at 8:30am.  The conference will start at 9:00am with the keynote address.  Classes will begin at 10:00am and last 50 minutes each.  Five classes in each of five tracks will be offered.  The conference ends at 4pm.

There will be displays of contemporary and historical family history memorbilia.  Included will be photographs, journals, and scrapbooks; artifacts and antiques; period clothing and just about anything that brings back the past in memories.

The lunch hour promises to provide some genealogy entertainment.  Lunch is NOT provided so bring your own Bag Lunch and spend the day.  Beverages will be provided.  Again, admission is free.
